New Years Day After New Years Day

What if everyday were like New Years Day? Ok, maybe the day after since the majority of the world stays up way too late on December 31st. What is it about that time of year where everyone feels motivated to make a fresh start and stick to all those new resolutions?

My Dad and I had a chat once about those precious, perfect days that come along. When you open your eyes right after a great night’s sleep and you already know nothing can go wrong. Everything looks a little clearer; your food has more flavor; the falling rain won’t ruin your commute – it will help clean your car and give you a little more time to listen to that engaging book on CD . . .

Attitude is an amazing thing, isn’t it? You can take one scenario and based on your attitude, it can play out for better or for worse. On January 1st, it’s all about that positive attitude. It’s about that perfect day where it’s the first day of the rest of your life.

Maybe if we were all just a little more aware of the thoughts and emotions that hold us back from those perfect days, we could begin to recognize them, give them a curt nod (or a swift kick in-the-butt, depending where you’re coming from), and send them on their way. Try making today the first day of the rest of your life.

Would love to hear your thoughts,

most especially if you think it can help others!

Take what flows for you and let the rest float by.
